Athletic Club 96 Bozen regional champions for the 12th time

After 18 competitions, the people of Bolzano achieved 15.606 points. This meant that in the final score they had almost 900 points more than their opponents. As winners of the second division last year (final “Argento”), the white-reds now have the A-final ticket almost firmly in their pockets. At another team competition on June 14th and 15th in Marcon in the Veneto as well as at the individual regional championships two weeks later in Rovereto and at a few other meetings in the summer, the people of Bolzano only have to surpass the 17.200 point mark. They will easily do that, because they already have 17.099 points if you count 20 competitions.

In Trento, Athletic Club 96 had to compete with a weakened substitute, but still showed a convincing performance. The White and Reds had to make do without their star Paolo Dal Molin. The 2013 European vice champion in the 60 m hurdles actually wanted to reach the European Championship limit in the 110 m hurdles, but was unable to compete due to a minor injury. Soufiane Elkounia was also missing from the 300m steeplechase and 5000m. In Trento, the throwers particularly stood out this time, winning three of the four competitions. Karl Telser won the shot put, scored 911 points and set the old club record with 15.96 m, Hubert Göller only had to admit defeat to the “Azzurro” Nobert Bonvecchio in the javelin throw and also the two Bozen natives Davide Comunello (hammer) and Daniel Compagno (winner in the Discus with 52.14 m) scored important points.

Bolzano's new middle-distance runner, Abdessalam Machmach, celebrated a strong debut. He was the fastest of the day over 800 m in 1.52:26 minutes. The Merano pole vaulter Manfred Menz also won with 4,80 m as did the Bolzano all-rounder Marco Colombo, who brilliantly replaced Paolo Dal Molin in the 110 m hurdles and scored an impressive 14.60 points with 902 seconds.

Bolzano's youth work is also beginning to bear fruit. The U18 runner Marco Spagnolli took third place in the 1500 m in a good 4.04:51 minutes, while the U20 Luca Cola ran the 400 m in 50.48 seconds.

Cavalleri and Agreiter create standard for Junior World Championships

For the athletes from the other clubs who did not have full teams, the team championships were a good opportunity to test their form. The Bruneck juniors Valentina Cavalleri and Caren Agreiter were particularly convincing. The Innicher woman won the 400 m hurdles in 1.00,53:13 minutes, just five hundredths ahead of Agreiter. Cavalleri increased her record by 3,71 hundredths, Agreiter even by 1.00,74 seconds. Both of them have undercut the standard for the Junior World Championships (44,99). In the women's javelin throw, Bruneck junior Stefanie Messner reached XNUMX m.
