Brixia Meeting: South Tyrol's talents in international comparison

The Brixia Meeting is now one of the most important youth events in Central Europe. Many internationally known athletes celebrated their first successes in the South Tyrolean cathedral city and thus moved themselves into the limelight of the athletics world for the first time.

The field of participants was expanded by one team this year and now includes 15 selection teams, six of which come from surrounding countries (Vorarlberg, Austrian Selection, Baden/Württemberg, Bavaria, Ticino, Slovenia) and eight from Italy (Emilia Romagna, Friuli, Lombardy). , Lazium, Marche, Piedmont, Tuscany, Trentino and South Tyrol).

From a local perspective, javelin and discus throwers Andreas Zagler and Julia Calliari are among the highest-profile hopefuls. Calliari will not only be competing in her flagship discipline, the 100 m sprint, but also in the 4x100 m relay and the long jump. The main goal is to get ready for the upcoming U18 World Cup.

In total, selection coach Karl Schöpf called up 27 athletes (14 boys and 13 girls) for the Brixia meeting on the Pentecost weekend, including numerous other promising talents such as Caren Agreiter and Lisa Seppi.
