De Nigro and Haselrieder win BOclassic Ladurner Volkslauf
With the BOclassic Ladurner fun run, hundreds of amateur athletes are ending the old year by running and starting the new Top7 running series. This was also the case on Tuesday in the run-up to the elite races of the 50th Bozen New Year's Eve run. Two well-known South Tyrolean endurance athletes, Euan De Nigro from Brixen and Greta Haselrieder from Bruneck, won the 5km amateur competition.

Euan De Nigro won the 1,25 km circuit in the city center of Bolzano, which the participants had to complete four times, with the start and finish on Waltherplatz. The 20-year-old triathlete from Brixen set his own pace from the start, increased his lead on each subsequent loop and ultimately won comfortably in 14.51 minutes.
"I now live in Spain, where I have ideal conditions for triathlon training. I'm at home in South Tyrol over the holidays and I used this run as a quick training session. I'm obviously very happy about this victory and am now looking forward to the new year and the next challenges," said De Nigro at the finish.
Second and third place went to athletes from Bormio. Matteo Bradanini and Massimiliano Zanaboni crossed the finish line almost at the same time and were 51 seconds behind De Nigro. The local hero from Bolzano, Khalid Jbari, who was De Nigro's closest pursuer until about halfway through the race, took fifth place.

Greta Haselrieder was the fastest athlete in the women's race. The doctor from Bruneck completed the 5 km in the centre of Bolzano in 17.49 minutes, thus celebrating her first victory in the BOclassic Ladurner fun run, which the 27-year-old athlete from the South Tyrol running club had finished second last year. Second place in this year's race went to Giulia Sommi from Lombardy, who had finished third in the Italian Marathon Championships at the beginning of the year (+32 seconds). Francesca Comiotto from Belluno completed the podium (+53 seconds).
"I never expected to win the BOclassic Ladurner Volkslauf today. It is a very good end to 2024, which went very well for me. And with this victory, I am now even more motivated to start the new year and a new season," beamed Greta Haselrieder at the finish.
A total of 510 athletes from 15 different nations were registered for the BOclassic Ladurner Volkslauf 2024, which was held for the 21st time this year. The Top7 running series is now taking a somewhat longer break. It will continue at the beginning of May with the Teroldego Events in Trentino.
