The 24-year-old world champion won the final in 10,71 seconds at the eliminations in Eugene, Oregon.
Three years ago, Richardson missed the games in Tokyo after testing positive for cannabis. At that time, she also won the qualifying race, but the victory was subsequently revoked. The US association decided not to nominate the sprinter, whose mother had previously died.
After her success on Saturday (local time), Richardson spoke of an overwhelming feeling of happiness. She said she couldn't wait to represent her team. "I feel honored. I feel everything. Every chapter I've experienced in my life has prepared me for this moment," said Richardson.

The other two places went to Richardson's training partners, who also ran world-class times. Melissa Jefferson came second in 10,80 seconds, and Twanisha Terry took third place in 10,89 seconds.Edit Profile
