Gold, silver and bronze for Taekwondo South Tyrol

The Italian Championships for red belts (Series B), veterans, and the U21 Italian Championships took place on December 20th and 21st at the Palazzetto del Turismo in Jesolo. Around 750 athletes from 19 regions and over 200 clubs from all over Italy participated in this high-caliber event.

The Taekwondo Südtirol-Eurotherm club was represented by 12 athletes and 2 coaches and celebrated considerable success. On the very first day of competition, Lena Christoph (category +68 kg) and Giacomo Porrino (category -63 kg) each reached the final.

After four intense fights each, both athletes deservedly secured the silver medal. Greta Gasser also won a bronze medal, rounding off a successful first day.

On Sunday, the day of the U21 competition, Alexander Oberhofer made a strong statement in the -87 kg category. After four convincing fights, he won the gold medal. He even won the final by knockout after landing a dynamic and precise head kick on his opponent from Apulia. The referee then stopped the fight.
