Karate Mühlbach took fifth place overall in the kata (form competition) and was thus named one of the karate schools with the best young talent.
Almost 1.100 athletes from over 70 karate clubs from all over Italy took part in the FIK (Federazione Italiana Karate) Italian Cup - Karate Mühlbach was represented by 15 athletes.
In Kumite (duel), two athletes from Karate Mühlbach were in a class of their own: Ramón Motta (protégés, up to orange belt, -50kg) and Madleen Unterhuber (candidates, green and blue belts, -47kg) dominated their category and deservedly won gold. Laura Peintner (juniors, green and blue belts, -58kg) took bronze, while Lorenz Mantinger (juniors, green and blue belts, -68kg) came in 5th place.
Maria Peintner grabbed the title.
There were a total of six podium places in the kata (form competition): Maria Peintner (protégés, up to orange belt) and Aron Leitner (candidates, green and blue belts) won the title; Silver went to Julia Mair (pupils, up to orange belt) and Lorenz Mantinger (juniors, green and blue belts), while the bronze medal went to Gabriela Huber (candidates, green and blue belts) and Emilia Bruni (pupils, up to orange belt). Missing out on the podium were Laura Peintner, Laura Grünfelder, Emma Peintner and Sonia Kaszas (all 4th place), Madleen Unterhuber, Greta Fischer and Jasmin Kurtovic (all 6th place) and Anna Gallmetzer (8th place).
There was a special moment of happiness at the end of the event when Karate Mühlbach was awarded the fifth best team overall in the Kata discipline. “It's not just about a trophy, but about an award, namely the award of being one of the karate schools with the best young talent,” says trainer Martin Pezzei happily.
