This is what you need to know about the Hungarian Grand Prix

The Formula 1 World Championship had become a one-man show long before the summer break. Serial winner Max Verstappen has left the competition behind and is also heading to the Hungarian Grand Prix at the weekend as favorite. The hunt for second place recently offered the fans significantly more variety.

It was his eighth success this year. With twelve World Championship races still to go, he could surpass his record of 15 season victories from last year. Verstappen could also achieve the eight pole positions in a row that Ayrton Senna once achieved. The 25-year-old recently took first place on the grid five times in a row.

Who is the best from the rest of the field this time? In Great Britain, McLaren showed great improvement, with Lando Norris taking second place. But that doesn't mean much. The rather slow track in Budapest has a completely different character than the very fast track in Silverstone. Mercedes hopes that the changes to the car will finally take effect. Ferrari is always under pressure anyway. And Aston Martin wants to be back at the forefront after a good start to the season and a recent weak phase.

The 34-year-old had to leave McLaren after the previous season and returned to Red Bull as a replacement driver. The industry leader is now loaning Ricciardo to the previously disappointing sister team. But it is uncertain whether the veteran with the permanent grin can turn things around. The Alpha Tauri doesn't suit his driving style. At least Ricciardo should ensure a good mood in the paddock.
