Pressure on Doohan: Alpine gets Colapinto

The 21-year-old will initially be a test driver and one of the reserve drivers from next season. What is clear with this personnel decision, which had already been speculated about, is that the pressure on newcomer Jack Doohan will be significantly increased.

After an elimination race, the 21-year-old Australian was given preference over Mick Schumacher, who will only be racing for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship this year. According to media reports, Jack Doohan's contract will initially only guarantee him the first six races of the upcoming season.

He replaces the Frenchman Esteban Ocon, who has moved to Haas. His compatriot Pierre Gasly is in the other Alpine cockpit. Colapinto made his racing debut in the premier class of motorsport in the middle of last season.
