Gambaro: “We can be satisfied”

Barbara Gambaro from Schlanders made her very first Olympic appearance on Saturday morning. Although she did not make it to the final round in the mixed competition, Gambaro was satisfied with her performance - and that of her partner.

It was on Saturday morning when the first of five South Tyrolean athletes was in action at the 2024 Olympics. It was the sports shooter Barbaro Gambaro from Schlanders. The 32-year-old competed in the mixed competition with Danilo Sollazzo, and ended up in 17th place – out of 28 participating couples (SportNews berichtete). But the South Tyrolean was not in a bad mood after qualifying – quite the opposite.

"We can actually be satisfied with 17th place. It was a good performance from both of us, considering that it is our first Olympics. There were a lot of emotions involved, so we were a little nervous, but we mastered it confidently," said Gambaro on SportNews-Demand.

The next opportunity is on Sunday

"I'm happy with my personal performance anyway," says Gambaro. This is mainly because "the air rifle isn't exactly my forte," she admits. And now it's time to wipe your mouth, stand up straight and be ready for the next chance. "But it was a good start. Tomorrow (on Sunday, editor's note) we'll try again, but this time in an individual competition," says Gambaro.
