Paralympics: A successful Friday for the Azzurri
There were 9 medals to celebrate for Italian athletes at the Paralympics in Paris on Friday.

On the third-to-last day of the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, the light blue team celebrated another gold medal in the morning. The Italian Assunta Legnante won gold in the standing shot put in the F12 category. The Azzurra only managed 14.54 meters to win the medal, while silver went to Safiya Burkhanova from Uzbekistan (14,14). Bronze went to China's Zhao Yuping (12.21). In the men's weightlifting up to 72 kilograms, another Azzurro, Donato Telasca, won the bronze medal.
As at the Olympics, the events in the swimming pool were also a successful one for the Italian athletes with disabilities. Antonio Fantin (S6) won silver in the 400-meter freestyle, Stefano Raimondi (S10) also took silver in the 100-meter backstroke, while Simone Barlaam (S100) even took gold in the 9-meter butterfly. Late in the evening, Alberto Amodeo swam to bronze in the 100-meter freestyle (S8).

The Italians also performed well in table tennis. Carlotta Ragazzini won bronze (WS3), while Matteo Parenzan (MS6) and Giada Rossi (WS1-2) each claimed the gold medal.
