All US sports have to give way to the fires

Due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles, the NFL playoff game between the Rams and the Minnesota Vikings will take place in Arizona. NHL and NBA games are also affected.

The NFL announced the decision to postpone the wildcard round game scheduled for Monday evening (local time) on Thursday after another fire broke out in the US metropolis. The game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Vikings will now take place at State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals.

The Super Bowl was also held there two years ago. The NFL justified the move with concerns about air quality in Los Angeles and the already heavy burden on police and firefighters.

NBA and NHL games also postponed

The fires have already had an impact on the NBA and NHL schedule. The Lakers' home game against the Charlotte Hornets, scheduled for Friday morning CET, has been postponed, and the Los Angeles Kings' home game against the Calgary Flames will not take place as planned in the arena in downtown Los Angeles.

There are currently several fires raging in the region, the cause of which is still unknown. In southern California, where Los Angeles is located, it has hardly rained for at least eight months. Trees and bushes have dried out. In addition, the strong Santa Ana winds typical for the season are driving the flames forward quickly.
