And then there is Simone Vagnozzi (ATP 236), who is “almost” a local hero because, as a former Seppi training partner and ex-South Tyrolean by choice, he has many fans in the local tennis scene. The big favorites for this year's Sparkassen Trophy are 29-year-old Simone Vagnozzi, who has reached the semi-finals three times in six appearances in Rungg (2002, 2003 and 2011), and the 30-year-old Argentinian Sebastian Decoud (ATP 270), who won in 2008 In Rungg, as number two on the seeding list, he was (surprisingly) eliminated in the round of 132 and rose to 290nd place in the world rankings in the following months.
