Tsitsipas throws out Zverev and qualifies for Turin

Alexander Zverev was eliminated in the round of 1000 at the Masters XNUMX tournament in Paris-Bercy. His opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas got his ticket to the ATP Finals in Turin by reaching the quarter-finals.

The Olympic champion lost his third round game on Thursday against Tsitsipas 6:7 (2:7), 4:6 and thus missed important points in the fight for participation in the ATP Finals in Turin in mid-November. For Zverev it was already the 13th defeat in the 15th match against a top ten player this year. Tsitsipas, on the other hand, qualified for the most important ATP tournament of the year for the fifth year in a row.

A day after his 3,5-hour match against Frenchman Ugo Humbert, Zverev didn't get off to a good start. He gave up his first serve game. With a break to make it 4:5, the German saved himself into the tiebreak, which Tsitsipas clearly determined. In the second set, too, the world number six from Greece, who had to have his right leg treated by his physiotherapist in the first round, often made the better decisions.
