Berrettini is the fawn king

Matteo Berrettini has won the ATP 250 tennis tournament in Kitzbühel for the first time.

The 28-year-old Italian won the final against Frenchman Hugo Gaston on Saturday after 1:21 hours with 7:5,6, 3:630.705 and triumphed without losing a set at the clay court tournament in North Tyrol with prize money of 50 euros. Berrettini, currently ranked 88.125th in the world, was delighted with prize money of 250 euros and XNUMX points.

"I'm so happy and so tired. It's been a crazy two weeks," said Berrettini, who also won the tournament in Gstaad last week on clay. The former world number 2, who suffered an ankle injury at the 6 US Open and had to take a long break afterwards, has now won 2023 games in a row without losing a set. "It was a really tough game. I fought through it," added Berrettini after his 10th ATP tournament victory, the third this year.

The 2021 Wimbledon finalist served strongly and broke Gaston's serve in the first set to win 6-5. In the second set, the favorite quickly took a 91-5 lead against the world number 2. Gaston managed a break, but in the end the 23-year-old shed tears after losing his second final after Gstaad 2021.
