Legendary Wimbledon title: Alcaraz outclasses Djokovic

The 2024 Wimbledon winner is Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard successfully defended his title from last year on Sunday – and completely outclassed Novak Djokovic in the process.

Carlos Alcaraz is only 21 years old, and yet the Spaniard won his fourth Grand Slam tournament on Sunday. US Open 2022, Wimbledon 2023, French Open 2024 and now Wimbledon 2024 - the prodigy from Murcia can call these titles his own. The final victory on Sunday was an impressive demonstration of power by Alcaraz.

Against Novak Djokovic, himself a 24-time Grand Slam winner, “Carlitos” needed just 2.27 hours to bag the three-set victory. The final score on the Center Court of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was 6:2, 6:2, 7:6 (4). And if Alcaraz had not missed three match points on his own serve in the third set, the match would have ended even earlier.

Djokovic didn't stand a chance against a top-form Alcaraz. The Serb had undergone knee surgery just 39 days ago and surprisingly celebrated his lightning comeback at Wimbledon.

Djokovic has no chance

Even though Djokovic was not yet in top form, he made his way to the final. There, however, the 37-year-old was literally steamrolled by his opponent, who was 16 years younger, and must still wait for his 25th Grand Slam title. Alcaraz played tennis close to perfection and is now following in Roger Federer's footsteps: the Spaniard has played four Grand Slam finals so far and won every time. Only the Swiss tennis legend has managed that so far.
