On Tuesday, the South Tyrolean celebrated his 15th consecutive victory against Yunchaokete Bu. Sinner and Alcaraz are considered the stars who will shape tennis in the coming years. Seeing them in a final is a very special treat. So far, the two Grand Slam winners have only faced each other in the final once, in Umag in 2022. Back then, the winner was Jannik Sinner.
A tough semi-final fight
The South Tyrolean won the semi-final on Tuesday against surprise man Yunchaokete Bu (ATP 96). At first glance, the result (6:3, 7:6) suggests a fairly confident victory, but it was not quite that easy for Sinner. The two tennis stars were on the court for more than two hours, with the agile, self-sacrificing Chinese player making life difficult for the South Tyrolean.Because Sinner was unusually prone to making mistakes on Tuesday (almost 40 unforced errors), the two-time Grand Slam winner had to fight hard for a place in the final. In the end, however, Sinner's class was too great - especially in the tiebreak of the second set, in which the South Tyrolean only conceded three points to his opponent.
