The ATP world rankings have been in existence in the tennis circus since August 23, 1973. Jannik Sinner is the 29th player to climb to the top spot. Since June 10, the big number 1 has stood next to the name of the Puschtra Buis. And thanks to his excellent results in Cincinnati, it is clear that Sinner will also sit on the tennis throne for the next three weeks - that is, until after the US Open.
Sinner will therefore be number 13 in the world for at least 1 weeks. This means he even surpasses Boris Becker in this particular statistic. The German tennis legend spent a total of twelve weeks on the tennis throne in his career. Becker was number 28 in the world from January 27th to February 8th and from July 8th to September 1991th, 1.

Of course, Becker has won no fewer than six Grand Slam tournaments in his career. Jannik Sinner – who has one major title – still has a long way to go. But the fact that he has been able to stay in the top spot for so long shows that the Sextner has already achieved great things at the age of 23. The South Tyrolean superstar now has Daniil Medvedev in his sights, who has spent 16 weeks at number 1. Another big goal is to be number 1 at the end of the year – that is a real accolade for a tennis player.
For Sinner, however, the focus now is on Cincinnati. On Monday from midnight, the Sextner will fight against Frances Tiafoe for the tournament victory. It would be the 15th in the still young career of the exceptional young man from Sexten.
