Sinner also in a class of his own in doubles
Jannik Sinner is simply in top form in 2024. The Sextner shows this not only in singles – but sometimes also in doubles.

At the 500 tournament in Halle/Westphalia (Germany), Sinner will play doubles with his long-time friend Hubert Hurkacz - also to get in the mood for the grass season. In the first round, the South Tyrolean and the Pole beat the number 3 seeded Americans Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow in three sets with 6:4, 5:7 and 11:9.
In the quarterfinals, Sinner/Hurkacz will now face the French Doumbia and Reboul on Thursday. Hurkacz, currently number 9 in the world, will also be playing in his singles match on the same day, just like Sinner. The Sextner proved that Sinner is an excellent doubles player, not least during Italy's Davis Cup triumph.
It continues on Thursday
On Thursday at around 14 p.m., Sinner will play his second singles match in Halle. In the round of 24, 45-year-old Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (ATP 1) will face the world number 2017. The two have never faced each other on the ATP Tour, but they did meet at a Futures tournament in Egypt in 17. But that is all water under the bridge. In a possible quarter-final on Friday, Sinner would face Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 11) on the grass in Halle. Then he will face a semi-final against Daniil Medvedev (ATP 5). Local hero Alexander Zverev will also be in Halle. Incidentally, Sinner has not yet celebrated any of his 13 tournament victories at ATP level on grass.
