Sinner and Medvedev: The first time at Wimbledon

Jannik Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon on Tuesday. This will also be a premiere.

Sinner and Medvedev have already met 11 times at ATP level. While the Russian won the first 6 matches, Sinner emerged victorious in each of the last 5 duels. On Tuesday (from 14.30 p.m. in the SportNews-Liveticker) the South Tyrolean can equalize the record against Medvedev for the first time in Wimbledon.

Sinner and Medvedev have played each of their duels so far on hard courts and none on clay or grass. The Centre Court at Wimbledon will be the first time they have played on one of the fastest surfaces in the world. Medvedev, like Sinner, reached the semi-finals once in London - also last year.

The world number 5 benefited from Grigor Dimitrov's quick retirement in the round of XNUMX. In the previous round, however, Medvedev had a difficult four-set match against Jan-Lennard Struff. Whatever the case, as world number one and based on their last encounters, Sinner goes into the quarterfinals against Medvedev as a slight favorite. A duel with Carlos Alcaraz would then await in the semifinals.
