Sinner reacts: Naldi and Ferrara must go

Physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi and athletic trainer Umberto Ferrara will no longer be part of Jannik Sinner's team, as the Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Friday.

The decision was communicated to the two on Friday afternoon, just three days after it was announced that Sinner tested positive for Clostebol during the last Indian Wells tournamentThe positive test was due to accidental contamination during a massage in which Naldi applied an ointment containing the banned substance. This ointment was allegedly obtained from Ferrara.

Naldi and Ferrara, both from Bologna, have been part of Sinner's team since 2022. Naldi, 33, a trained osteopath, worked for Virtus Bologna for several years and first met Sinner when he treated him in Sofia in 2022 after an ankle injury. Ferrara, on the other hand, 55, had previously worked with Simone Vagnozzi, Sinner's coach, when he was Marco Cecchinato's coach.
