Stefan Kraft's lead shrank significantly after seventh place in Planica. Before the final act, the newly crowned overall World Cup winner still leads by 34 points ahead of local hero Peter Prevc, who won on Friday. While the Slovenian celebrated his first victory in over four years in the penultimate individual competition of his career, Daniel Huber narrowly missed out on victory in second place.
Huber (232 m/224 m) was ultimately 3,6 points behind Prevc after losing the half-time lead. “I went crazy for a moment in flight, it's so sensitive here. “Peter simply did it best today,” said Huber. He wasn't entirely serious about Prevc's almost cheesy victory (237,5/231) at the end of his career: "I thought it would be better for the story if Peter won another one here." Despite the narrowly missed victory the Salzburgers did not disappoint.
Insam strong again
Huber also still has a chance of winning the small crystal ball, 47 points behind Kraft. Before the final point, a team competition is on the agenda on Saturday. Alex Insam was the only Azzurro to collect World Cup points. The man from Val Gardena confirmed his strong winter with two flights at 220 meters each and ended up in 16th place.Edit Profile
