Alta Badia: Odermatt dominates the first round

Marco Odermatt remains a force in giant slalom – even in the second race in Alta Badia. The Swiss is clearly in pole position after the first run.

On Monday the Alpine Ski Festival in Alta Badia continued with the second giant slalom on the Gran Risa. With excellent slope conditions, little changed among the fastest runners compared to the first race. Like the day before, Marco Odermatt set the fastest time in the first round and pushed his competitors into the back places with a huge lead this time.

Once again, the 26-year-old mastered the demanding run in Val Badia best, stood on his skis as if on rails and immediately set an insurmountable time in the snow with start number 1. In the finish interview, Odermatt confirmed his performance with a smile: “I felt even better today than yesterday.”

The Swiss ski ace beat his first pursuer Filip Zubcic from Croatia, who was already the best runner behind Odermatt on Sunday, by 0,87 seconds with a running time of around 1.15 minutes. Marco Schwarz from Austria took third place (+0,95). Close behind, Zan Kranjec (+0.96) from Slovenia laid claim to his double podium in South Tyrol. All runners behind this quartet are already over a second behind the Swiss and have to hope for a rare mistake from Odermatt in order to be able to flirt with the prestigious victory on the Gran Risa.

Vinatzer was just there in the second run

However, there is no Azzurro to be found in the top 10. Nevertheless, the fans in Alta Badia can cheer on four local runners in the second round. Filippo Della Vite has the best chance of a top placement in 14th place (+2,99). Giovanni Borsotti (+3,02) follows closely behind in 15th place. The only South Tyrolean who made it to the final was Alex Vinatzer in 27th place (+4,61). Luca De Aliprandini will also open the second round at 13.30:4,64 p.m. (+XNUMX).
