Anna Trocker won the gold medal in the Junior World Championship giant slalom on Thursday in Narvik.

Anna Trocker's World Championship gold: "For the family"

Anna Trocker was crowned Junior World Champion on Thursday in Narvik (NOR). The 17-year-old from South Tyrol said afterwards that she had been extremely nervous before the start.

Junior World Champion at 17! That's the record of Anna Trocker, who's having a fabulous season, since Thursday. After her World Cup debut, she went to the Olympics, and now, as the crowning achievement... Gold medal in the World Championship giant slalom in Narvik Furthermore, because the Junior World Champions are allowed to start at the World Cup final, Trocker will also be there in Hafjell (NOR) in about two weeks.


“I can hardly wait to be at the starting line for the World Cup Finals,” said the South Tyrolean after her triumph in Narvik. She admitted to being nervous before the start: “There was some nervousness, but the weather and conditions were perfect, which helped me relax. I’m very happy to have proven that giant slalom is a specialty for us Italians.”

Trocker, who is coached by Arnold Karbon (he is the father of former world-class ski racer Denise Karbon), then dedicated the gold medal to her loved ones: "This victory is for my family."
