“Forever your girl”: Great sadness for ski ace

The skiing world mourns with the Czech Martina Dubosvka, who had to cope with the second stroke of fate within a short period of time.

It was only three years ago that Martina Dubovska's world was turned upside down. The Czech technical specialist's mother lost her life in a traffic accident. Now the skier has received more tragic news: her father Jan Dubovsky recently died at the age of 64.

Dubovska announced this in an emotional post on Instagram. She captioned photos of the two of them together: "I'm daddy's girl forever." Dubovska's father used to be a ski racer himself and has been his daughter's coach in recent years. There are no further details about the cause of death.

Martina Dubovska has to cope with another bitter loss. In 2021, her mother Zuzana was fatally injured in a car accident immediately before the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Dubovska was on her way to the World Championships when she heard about it and subsequently decided not to take part in the title fights.

Since this tragic accident, the technician has worn an angel painted on her helmet. "I hope my mother helps me down from heaven," she once said. Now the slalom specialist, who has finished in the top 10 of the World Cup eight times, must also accept the loss of her beloved father.
