Despite training cancellation: South Tyrolean ski talent beams with joy

The first women's downhill runs of the season are scheduled to take place in Zermatt this weekend. However, the final training session was canceled due to the weather - but one South Tyrolean is still lucky.

Strong wind and bad weather: That was what prevailed in Zermatt on Friday, which is why the third and final training session had to be canceled. However, because training took place on Thursday, nothing stands in the way of a race - provided the weather permits. Two women's downhill runs are planned on Saturday and Sunday at 11.45:XNUMX a.m.

For a South Tyrolean, a little dream comes true: Vicky Bernardi will compete in her first World Cup race. The Val Badia native was nominated by the coaches for the first downhill run on Saturday and will therefore be competing alongside Sofia Goggia, Federica Brignone, Elena Curtoni, Nadia and Nicol Delago, Karoline Pichler, Laura Pirovano and Monica Zanoner.

Let talent shine through

Bernardi showed off her talent in training on Thursday: With number 56 she made it to a strong 19th place. So far, the skier from Abtei im Badia has only appeared in the European Cup, and she also caused a sensation at the Junior World Championships in St. Anton last January when she won silver in the downhill. Now Vicky Bernard can finally join the big boys.
