Elisa Platino slips off the podium

On Tuesday a women's European Cup giant slalom was held in Sestriere (Piedmont). An Azzurra ended up on the podium. However, it wasn't Elisa Platino who even reached for victory at one point.

The 25-year-old from Merano was in second position after the first round and wanted to do everything in her power to prevent Doriane Escane from winning the second day of the day. The Frenchwoman had already triumphed in the European Cup giant slalom the day before.

However, Platino lost two places in the second round and ended up in fourth place behind the recent winner Escane as well as the Austrian Nina Astner and her third-placed teammate Lara Della Mea. Platino was already in second place at halftime on Monday, but then was eliminated.

Vivien Insam from Val Gardena took 43rd place in the second Sestriere giant slalom, Laura Steinmair from Pustertal was eliminated in the second round.
