Everything is ready on the Erta

At the end of his visit to Kronplatz on Sunday, Alberto Senigagliesi, member of the race management team of the Alpine Ski Women's World Cup, confirmed the suitability of the Erta slope for racing with a view to the women's giant slalom next January 30th.

Together with OK boss Danny Kastlunger, race director David Clara and slope manager Daniele Clara, the FIS official inspected the entire length of the Erta to make sure that the snow cover met the quality criteria required by the FIS. Of course, the experienced piste team from Kronplatz did an excellent job again this year to ensure perfect racing conditions. Every year, the World Cup athletes are full of praise for the slopes and for many of them, Kronplatz is one of the most beautiful and at the same time most difficult stages in the Women's World Cup.

Since its debut in 2017, Erta has seen 7 World Cup races and is preparing to host the 30th edition next January 8th. On the following days, two additional FIS races will be held by the St. Vigil ski club in Enneberg on their “twin slope” Soréga, so that young skiers can also compete in the technical disciplines on a world-class slope.

Closed to the public

In the coming days, the Erta will be closed to the public in order to complete the final preparatory work. The safety nets are stretched and the snow cover is treated with the “beam”. Water is sprayed into the snow so that it becomes even more compact due to the cold. This guarantees the same racing conditions for all athletes. There are also some training sessions from different nations planned, including Italy, the USA and Austria.
