German ski ace continues: “Fire is still burning”

“As announced after the last race in Kranjska Gora in March, I have been pondering a lot over the last few months as to whether there will even be a follow-up season for me in the Ski World Cup. I've always wanted to turn my passion into a career and it's just too early for me to say hello to skiing," wrote the 31-year-old Allgäu native on Instagram. After an almost year-long break from competition, the giant slalom specialist returned to the World Cup last winter. However, the Bavarian did not get higher than 20th place in his comeback season. “Despite the difficult season with further setbacks, I noticed that the fire for ski racing still burns,” Luitz continued. Luitz wants to prepare for the coming season, which begins for the Alpine skiers with the giant slalom in Sölden at the end of October, with a private racing team. “It certainly won’t be an easy task, but I’m super motivated and looking forward to the upcoming training sessions,” wrote the ski racer. The athlete from SC Bolsterlang has won one World Cup race so far in his career and has been on the podium another nine times. He won World Cup bronze with the team in 2021.
