With a walking stick: Lindsey Vonn back on the big stage

Ski star Lindsey Vonn made a glamorous appearance at the Met Gala in New York, using a small walking stick but without crutches.

About three months after her serious crash in the Olympic downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo, the 41-year-old posed beaming for photographers. "This is kind of my comeback party – I can be among people, wear a beautiful, feminine dress, and put my crutches aside for the first time," Vonn told the press. Vogue.

The dress Vonn wore to the Metropolitan Museum of Art was designed by Thom Browne. "Thank you for making me feel like a princess. It was a magical night," the American actress wrote to the designer on Instagram. Before the event, Vonn had said, "I've been so isolated for so long. It will be lovely to be surrounded by so many people I know and care about, and to celebrate the evening in the most beautiful dress I can imagine."

The benefit gala, which raises millions each year for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum, once again became a star-studded affair: Alongside Vonn, other sports stars such as tennis legend Serena Williams, freestyle star Eileen Gu, and Olympic figure skating champion Alysa Liu arrived in extravagant outfits. It was great to see friends again, Vonn wrote alongside a short Instagram video with actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his wife Lauren Hashian.

Further surgery planned for autumn

Vonn suffered serious knee and lower leg injuries in her crash during the Olympic downhill race in Cortina d'Ampezzo in February. The American skier has undergone multiple surgeries and is scheduled for another operation in the fall.
