Nicol Delago lets it rip in downhill training

In recent years, Nicol Delago has become quiet - at least from a sporting perspective. Now the Val Gardena native has sent a strong sign of life in the downhill training in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee.

Nicol Delago's last top ten place was from December 3, 2022 in Lake Louise and is therefore more than a year old. After tearing her Achilles tendon, the 28-year-old is finding it difficult to get back to her old form. On Thursday - in the only downhill training in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee - Delago showed a strong performance. Only Federica Brignone was faster than her. Another Azzurra, Sofia Goggia, came third.

Nadia Delago also showed a decent training performance and ended up in 18th place. The other South Tyroleans, Vicky Bernardi (34th) and Teresa Runggaldier (48th), placed outside the top 30. The long Zauchensee weekend starts on Friday (10.45) with a Super-G. The downhill is on the program on Saturday before another Super-G takes place on Sunday.
