Runggaldier operated on: “Knee needed me-time”

Teresa Runggaldier suffered a serious injury during training in Copper Mountain at the beginning of December and will be out for the rest of the season. As she announced on social media on Sunday, she has now undergone surgery on her right knee at the Hochrum Clinic.

In an interview with s+, Teresa Runggaldier talked about her fateful fall. She tore her cruciate and medial ligaments, the head of the tibia is affected by cartilage damage, and the meniscus is also damaged. The operation was postponed due to high levels of inflammation, but in the last few days it was time. "A big thank you to Dr. Christian Fink and the Hochrum private clinic, who put me back together again," the woman from Wolkenstein wrote on social media on Sunday.

Despite the severity of the injury, Runggaldier does not lose her sense of humor. "My knee needed some me-time. It looks like now it's just me, my crutches and a whole lot of rehab." The Val Gardena native finds herself in a new reality, as she has previously been spared major injuries. But she is taking on the challenge and wants to come back stronger than ever next season.
