Kronplatz Ski World Cup in elite circles

In addition to Val di Fassa (ITA), Levi (FIN), Bormio (ITA) and Courchevel (FRA), Kronplatz was also included in the Club5 general assembly during the traditional FIS autumn meeting in Zurich. The newly elected Club5 board, led by President Rainer Senoner (Gröden/Val Gardena) and his deputies Jan Überall (Kitzbühel/Kitzbühel), Thomas Rechberger (St. Moritz/Kvitfjell) in October 2024, has set itself the goal of being seen as the voice of all World Cup organizers within the International Ski and Snowboard Federation. The board took another major step closer to this goal on Thursday evening – at least in the Alpine area. With the addition of Kronplatz, Val di Fassa, Levi, Bormio, and Courchevel, the renowned association has grown to 26 members. More prize money in the Ski World Cup But the admission of the new members was not the only item on the agenda of the biannual General Assembly, which was also attended by FIS Secretary General Michel Vion, FIS Executive Board member Michael Huber, and FIS Race Directors Markus Waldner and Peter Gerdol. They gave the organizing committees present a brief overview of future developments within the International Ski and Snowboard Federation. Huber reported that the FIS will increase prize money by 10 percent. For the upcoming 2025/26 season, it will total 158.400 Swiss francs. However, the FIS contribution will be gradually reduced in subsequent seasons. Vion promised the organizing committees present that a long-term calendar would soon be available to guarantee a certain degree of planning security. Waldner and Gerdol, however, said they were convinced that the organizers would once again deliver a top-notch product if everyone pulled together. FIS Sports Director Sandra Spitz, who also attended the Club5 plenary meeting, offered to develop a joint accreditation system for the organizers. Finally, the organizing committees present were informed that a workshop would take place in September 2026 as part of the Formula 1 weekend in Monza. This is the Club5: Club5 was founded in 1988. The five classic World Cup downhill races in the Alpine region—Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch, Val Gardena, and Val d'Isère—were to be consolidated under a single umbrella and marketed jointly. The goal was also to better communicate the high quality of these events through the media. Over the years, additional organizers have joined. Today, the club consists of 26 members. These include the World Cup organizers Adelboden, Alta Badia, Åre, Bormio, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Courchevel, Crans-Montana, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Val Gardena, Jasna, Kitzbühel, Kranjska Gora (women), Kranjska Gora (men), Kronplatz, Kvitfjell, Levi, Madonna di Campiglio, Schladming, Sestriere, Soldeu, St. Anton, St. Moritz, Val di Fassa, Val d'Isère, Wengen, and Zagreb.
