Wedding by the lake: Swiss man beams after ski retirement

A year full of events has culminated in a crowning moment for a former Swiss ski ace: The slalom specialist celebrated his dream wedding.

The year 2026 will be one that Swiss skier Marc Rochat will never forget. In recent weeks and months, the former slalom specialist experienced two momentous events.

But let's start at the beginning. Last April, after a long season, Rochat participated in the Swiss Championships, finishing fifth in the slalom. At the finish line, however, the 33-year-old dropped a bombshell: he announced his retirement. In the future, he will not only have more time for his great love, Caroline, but also for his young son, Lupo, who was born in mid-May 2025.

Dream wedding on Lake Maggiore

Following his resignation, another memorable event has now taken place: Rochat recently married his Caroline. The grand celebration was held on Lake Maggiore – a dreamlike setting to tie the knot.

Besides friends, family, and his son Lupo, several skiing companions were also there, such as Luca Aerni and Daniel Yule. The latter caused a stir with a curious outfit: Yule arrived in a kilt – his parents originally come from England and Scotland.

Rochat experienced a major highlight after his retirement from skiing. During his career, he competed in 105 World Cup races and finished in the top 10 several times. His finest moment came at the 2025 World Ski Championships when he won the bronze medal in the team combined event with Stefan Rogentin.
