A Swiss ski ace has had enough.

Adventurous journey ends: ski ace quits

At just 26 years old, Swiss skier Dionys Kippel has decided to end his career and pursue new challenges. He announced this decision on Instagram. Kippel looks back on an eventful career marked by tough fights and impressive successes.

The Swiss ski racer was kicked out of the Swiss Ski squad in the winter of 2018/19 and was then able to fight his way back. After the 2022/23 season he failed again due to the selection hurdles and attacked one last time. Over the course of last winter, however, his doubts grew and he felt that he was no longer fully committed to his work.


“I have dedicated every day of my life for the last 10 years to following my dream of becoming one of the best in the world,” Kippel wrote in his Instagram post. “Lately I've felt like that fire to keep pushing myself to 100 percent is waning and I'm not willing to put in the same energy and time. I suffered from self-doubt and signals that showed me that if I wasn’t completely convinced, I wouldn’t compete with the best.”

An emotional farewell

In his emotional contribution, Kippel emphasized how much skiing has given him and how grateful he is for the experiences and experiences. “Skiing gave me more than I could ever imagine. I loved spending so much time in nature, having the best time with wonderful people, traveling and discovering amazing places,” he wrote. He also reports how proud he is of his achievement. His balance sheet: Kippel was in the World Cup starting house once and has 35 races in the European Cup to his name.



The decision to end his playing career marked a significant turning point in Kippel's life. He leaves it open how things will continue for the 26-year-old from now on. With a grateful look back and an optimistic look forward, Kippel says goodbye to professional skiing and opens the doors to new challenges.
