It is one of the big highlights in the women's skiing racing calendar: the night slalom in Flachau. When the best skiers dance through the forest of poles in the Salzburg region under floodlights, a spectacle is guaranteed. On Tuesday evening (1st run 17.45 p.m./ 2nd run 20.45 p.m.) it's that time again - and from a South Tyrolean perspective, it means watching very closely. Because alongside the World Cup-tested Vera Tschurtschenthaler, Celina Haller will also be competing in Flachau.
For the 24-year-old from Schenna, a dry spell of almost three years comes to an end. The last time Haller competed in the highest racing series was on March 12, 2022. At that time, she was unable to qualify for the second run in the slalom in Åre. For the Burggräflerin, this was the second World Cup race of her life, and now number 3 is just around the corner.
Strong results in the European Cup
Haller, who is not part of the national team and is fighting her way through the skiing circus on her own, has earned her chance at the World Cup. The Schenner has been stronger than ever in the European Cup - the second highest racing series - in recent weeks. The highlight was just a few days ago when Haller came fourth in Les Diablerets (Switzerland), narrowly missing out on her first podium place. In Flachau, a spectacle is guaranteed. © APA / BARBARA GINDL
The South Tyrolean will start the first run of the Flachau slalom on Tuesday with number 62. Vera Tschurtschenthaler, meanwhile, will fight for the second run with number 39. The race will be opened by the Swiss Camille Rast, the first Azzurra (Martina Peterlini) will start with number 20. SportNews will keep you updated as always with a live ticker.
