An Italian premiere in the European Cup

Giovanni Borsotti is 33 years old. He has competed in 7 World Cup appearances, driven 104 races in the World Cup and has already been on the podium 10 times in the European Cup. Nevertheless, he had a completely new success to celebrate this Wednesday.

In Saalbach-Hinterglemm (Austria) he took the podium in a European Cup Super-G for the first time in his career. So far he has only achieved this feat in the second most important racing series in the giant slalom (including 3 victories) and in the combined event.

The experienced Piedmontese took third place behind the two Frenchmen Florian Loriot and Adrien Fresquet. Immediately behind, Borsotti's teammate Emanuele Buzzi was fourth in the rankings.

Ranzi and Perathoner are convincing

In Salzburger Land, two South Tyroleans were also able to celebrate European Cup points: Maximilian Ranzi (Lana) finished 46th with the high start number 20, Max Perathoner (Wolkenstein) took 22nd place. Mattia Cason (Lajen), however, was eliminated.

The European Cup program in Saalbach-Hinterglemm will conclude on Thursday with another Super-G.
