Brignone is top, only one is lagging behind

Federica Brignone is currently leading the giant slalom World Cup. The Italian also demonstrated her top form in the first round of Kranjska Gora.

Only one person was faster than Brignone in the rainy Kranjska Gora: Petra Vlhova – but by just two hundredths of a second. Third-placed Lara Gut-Behrami is also only 15 hundredths behind the Slovakian. So everything is still possible for the final at 12.30 p.m. Gut-Behrami is currently Brignone's biggest opponent in the giant slalom World Cup. The third in the group, Mikaela Shiffrin, didn't get started at all in the first run and, in seventh place, was almost a second behind the leader.

Anyone who knows the American knows that she will attack fully in the second round. Just behind Shiffrin is Marta Bassino, who is currently not finding her form. The only South Tyrolean, Elisa Platino, just qualified for the final in Slovenia in 30th place. In any case, there is high tension because the first four runners are within 35 hundredths. The piste conditions will be a challenge.
