The North Tyrolean left the competition well behind at the home World Cup in Obergurgl in the Ötztal valley. Feller made perfect use of starting number 3 and distanced himself from second-placed Frenchman Clement Noel (+0,94) by almost a second. Third is another Austrian, Fabio Gstrein (+0,99). Noel and Gstrein were the only two who finished less than a second behind.
When the external conditions were good, the Azzurri had nothing to do with the top places on the difficult slope. The best is currently Alex Vinatzer in 19th place. The native of Val Gardena lost almost 2,30 seconds to Feller, but has a chance of making a leap forward in the second run. Tobias Kastlunger was able to point this out. The man from Enneberg placed 32rd with number 23 and will be in the final.
Vinatzer and Kastlunger are the only Azzurri who are in Gurgl for the second round (from 13:45 p.m. in SportNewsticker). The other South Tyroleans, Simon Maurberger and Matteo Canins, were eliminated.
