Brignone & Co. are off to a forgotten ski paradise

For the first time in 40 years, a World Cup race will take place in Mont Tremblant, Canada, this weekend. Two giant slalom races take place there. In the middle of it all, instead of just being there, there is also a South Tyrolean, Elisa Platino.

Eight female ski racers have been nominated by the Italian federation for the races in Mont Tremblant. In addition to Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia, Marta Bassino, Asia Zenere, Roberta Melesi, Batrice Sola and Laura Pirovano, Elisa Platino also made the trip to Canada. It will be the only one in the North American winter country after the races in Lake Louise no longer take place.

For Platino, the season hasn't gone as planned so far. Although she is still a newcomer to the World Cup, she has not managed to qualify for the second round in both races so far - both giant slaloms, first in Sölden, then in Killington.

Back 40 years after his World Cup debut

Mont Tremblant has already been the venue for a World Cup and not only that. The first FIS World Cup took place there in 1983, which was also the first on Canadian soil. After that, the town near Montreal and Ottawa was no longer an option, and now it's time to return.
