The exotics are as much a part of the ski circus as the superstars. On the slopes, usually without much success, they cause amusement among fans and colleagues. And last but not least, they also make their country really proud. That was also the case with Willis Feasey from New Zealand. When he ended his career at the age of 31, his association wrote: “You are a legend in New Zealand.”
Feasey was part of the New Zealand team for years. He took part in the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and competed in a total of five world championships. Opposite skinews.ch said the exotic skier with a lot of self-irony: “I’m too old and too slow.” And further: “The results were simply no longer right and no longer met my own expectations. In addition, I was no longer able to generate any financial resources to be able to continue another season.”
A fall was his big highlight
Feasey told the New Zealand association about his resignation: “A highlight of my career was being ranked 44th in the world. That made all the hard work pay off.” When asked about his memorable moments, the 31-year-old replied: “I fell on my debut in the World Cup and made it onto TV on Eurosport. That was a special moment.”Edit Profile
