The decision was made after the Olympics, where she won the bronze medal in the Super-G, the Styrian native said at a press conference in Graz on Monday. Before that, she said, "it was already clear to me that I would retire." She wants to develop not only as an active athlete, but also as a person and as an entrepreneur.
At the beginning of the media event, a three-minute film was shown, highlighting key moments in Hütter's life, which the 33-year-old used to recap her life so far, including all the sporting highs and injury-related lows. She explained that, thanks to her father's encouragement, she had already "had a plan for my life" at the age of eleven.
"I was 99,9 percent sure that I would quit."
After her last major injury, a severe concussion (in Crans-Montana in February 2022), her "carefree attitude" was gone. Last fall, she was "99,9 percent" certain that this season would be her last. But the medal in Cortina threw her into a whirlwind of emotions. When media questions rained down on her at the World Cup final in Kvitfjell about whether she was retiring, she took some time to think it over. But then it finally became clear to her that she wanted to continue, Hütter reported.
Further develop different facets
Now she wants to develop further in the World Cup, as a person, and as an entrepreneur. She says it's "cool to have different facets, including being employed by the police, who have my back." She also wants to participate in a consulting project for young female athletes, but: "Right now, I only have one goal in mind, and that's next season." She doesn't want to look any further ahead than that. The next Alpine Ski World Championships will take place in Crans-Montana in February 2027.Edit Profile
