Two talents perform in Schnals

Last weekend, two FIS slaloms were scheduled on the Lazaun piste in Schnals. The race on Saturday not only counted as a National Junior Race, but also for the overall ranking of the Marlene Cup of the South Tyrolean Winter Sports Association. Two young South Tyroleans came out on top: the U18 athletes David Castlunger and Victoria Klotz were the fastest of the day.

This meant that both won the National Junior Race and the U18 category of the Marlene Cup. Castlunger from the Ski Team Alta Badia showed a fantastic first slalom run, in which he came first with a time of 49,27 seconds.


Although he was no longer the fastest in the second run, he still took the win with a total time of 1.40,23:18 minutes. The second U1.41,08 athlete was Valentin Sparber from RG Wipptal (1.42,16:XNUMX minutes), and third place went to Alberto Davare from Ski Team Alta Badia (XNUMX:XNUMX minutes).

The women's slalom was also contested by an U18 athlete. Victoria Klotz from RG Wipptal was in top form in Schnals, securing the day's victory in the National Junior Race and in the U54,59 of the Marlene Cup with the best time in the second run (18 seconds) (total time: 1.47,04:1.49,71 minutes). Second place went to Sophie Schweigl from the Kronplatz Skiteam (1.50,48:XNUMX minutes), and Rebecca Vetturini, also from the Kronplatz Skiteam (XNUMX:XNUMX minutes), completed the podium.

Blasbichler and Thaler win in the U21

The Marlene Cup ranking in the U21 category went to Eva Sophia Blasbichler (RG Wipptal, 1.48,11:1.40,84 minutes) and David Thaler (Ski Team Alta Badia, 1.49,19:1.41,44 minutes). Second place went to Bianca Gufler (Riffian Kuens, 1.51,34:1.41,55 minutes) and Max Clata (Kronplatz Skiteam, XNUMX:XNUMX minutes), and third place went to Selina Trafoier (XNUMX:XNUMX minutes) and Lukas Sieder (RG Wipptal, XNUMX:XNUMX minutes).

On Sunday, another slalom was held as a National Junior Race. In the women's race, Anna Trocker from the Seiser Alm Ski Team won ahead of Bianca Gufler and Sophie Schweigl, while the men's race went to Alex Silbernagl (Seiser Alm Ski Team), who relegated Lukas Sieder and David Castlunger to second and third place.
