A pair of lovers shakes up the biathlon world

Sweden is setting the tone in this young season. Martin Ponsiluoma triumphed in the men's individual competition on Tuesday, and a day later Hanna Öberg was at the top of the podium in the women's event. There was great joy in the Swedish camp, because the fact that two teammates started the season with a win is a special thing. Although: “Teammates” is a slight understatement for Ponsiluoma and Öberg. The two have been one of the dream couples in the biathlon scene for a year.

Öberg was asked about this topic during the winner's interview and answered jokingly. “Why I won? “I couldn’t be worse than my friend,” she says with a smile. “It's a really nice situation because we will both start on Saturday with the yellow jersey of the overall World Cup leader.” Did she receive any special advice from her friend? “Yes, he told me: 'Pull the trigger when you see the target,'” said the likeable Swede.
