A tailor-made debut: Lisa Vittozzi wins at the start

Lisa Vittozzi shows on the first World Cup weekend that she is a force to be reckoned with this year too and that she is rightly considered one of the favorites for the overall World Cup. After her convincing performance in the mixed relay, through which Italy ended up in third place, The 28-year-old went one better the next day and won the individual. Although Vittozzi received a penalty minute at the shooting range, she was unbeatable in the far north on Sunday and took her fourth World Cup victory.

The decisive factor for this was not only an excellent performance over the 15 kilometers on the cross-country ski trail, but also Vittozzi's fast shooting time. In the end, the Italian won ahead of Franziska Preuß by a measly 0,1 seconds - so it couldn't have been any closer.

The German almost turned everything on its head again with start number 57. After the last shooting, Preuß was still 11 seconds ahead of Vittozzi. On the final lap, the Bavarian, who made her comeback after a long break, missed victory by the blink of an eye. Another German, Vanessa Voigt, completed the podium and, like Preuß, also made no mistakes at the shooting range.

South Tyrolean women are fully involved Dorothea Wierer also showed an almost perfect competition - until the last shooting. The woman from Niederrasner left the third and fifth discs standing. With two penalty minutes, Wierer's chances of a podium place were gone. In the end, she ended up in 17th place. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old has shown that she will be good for a top spot at any time this year.

Rebecca Passler presented herself very strongly. The young Antholzer took 20th place with just one shooting error. The third South Tyrolean, Hannah Auchentaller, also finished 35th in the points. This is also a strong start for Auchentaller. Only in the third shooting did she miss two targets. The men's individual competition continues in Östersund on Sunday afternoon (14.30 p.m.). The women continue with a relay on Wednesday. The Azzurre are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
