Vetle Sjastad Christiansen, who was on the winner's podium with Norway's relay team on Thursday, achieved his first win of the season in the men's sprint race on Saturday. He remained flawless in his shooting and ultimately won with a lead of 16,9 seconds over the competition.
The fact that there was no Norwegian double victory in the Chiemgau Arena was due to the unbridled running of Tommaso Giacomel. Although he was the only one of the top three to make a mistake at the shooting range, he was almost unstoppable on the trail. He pushed Christiansen's teammate Tarjei Bø out of second place. The 3-year-old from the Primiero Valley equaled his best World Cup result, as he also took second place in the individual race in Östersund in March of last year.

Things didn't go nearly as well for South Tyrol's exceptional biathlon Lukas hofer, who finished 80th (4 mistakes) and missed qualifying for the final pursuit race. The flawless one at the shooting range Patrick Braunhofer scored World Cup points in 34th place.
