Svendsen wins individual competition in Östersund, South Tyrolean disappoints

Last season's overall World Cup winner, the Norwegian Emil Hegle Svendsen, also won the first World Cup race of this winter in Östersund today. Svendsen was well behind leader Ole Einar Björndalen in the 20 km individual competition until after the third shooting. However, the husband of Nathalie Santer from Dobbiaco missed two targets in the last shooting and had to settle for second place at the finish behind his teammate, who put in a brilliant final lap.
