Cardiac arrhythmia: Tandrevold operates

Four-time biathlon world champion Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold from Norway has undergone heart surgery.

Due to cardiac arrhythmia, the 28-year-old had already missed races at the start of the season in Kontiolahti, and after that she did not start in either Hochfilzen or Le Grand-Bornand.

During the minimally invasive procedure on Wednesday, a thin catheter was placed through the blood vessels directly to the heart, the Norwegian association announced. There, the heart tissue that causes the arrhythmia is specifically treated.

She feels good and has already started training again, said Tandrevold, who occasionally had these problems. At the start of the season in Finland, she had to stop on the course during both the individual race and the sprint. It is not yet clear when she will return to the World Cup.
