Vittozzi and Hofer start at the City Biathlon

The City Biathlon, one of the most popular events in summer biathlon, will take place this year on September 15th in Dresden.

Italy will be represented by Lisa Vittozzi and Lukas Hofer. Lisa Vittozzi, last season's overall World Cup winner, dominated the previous edition of the City Biathlon in Wiesbaden and will return as defending champion. Lukas Hofer will also take part in the competition and plans to demonstrate his skills against strong international competition.

The competition is top-class for both men and women: Among the women, the local favorites Franziska Preuß and Janina Hettich-Walz are competing. From the international field, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold from Norway, the Austrian Anna Gandler and Marketa Davidova from the Czech Republic are among Vittozzi's main competitors.

In the men's event, the Norwegian brothers and biathlon stars Tarjei and Johannes Boe will compete together with the German athletes Justus Strelow and Philipp Nawrath. This constellation promises a race at the highest level in which they will compete for the title with Lukas Hofer, among others.

And Wierer?

The City Biathlon attracts many fans every year who take the chance to see the stars of biathlon up close. Last year, Dorothea Wierer, the South Tyrolean and one of the world's most popular biathletes, was a particular crowd puller. However, she is currently missing from the list of participants for the competition in the autumn. Therefore, the eyes of the South Tyrolean fans are initially on the duo Lisa Vittozzi and Lukas Hofer, from whom much is expected. Nevertheless, there is hope that Wierer could still join the list of participants.
