Cross-country skiing couple is expecting offspring.

Winter sports baby on the way: “The race of our lives”

While skiing, biathlon and cross-country skiing stars are getting ready for the new season, an Austrian winter sports athlete is only thinking about one thing these days: her baby, who is on the way.

It's a photo that enraptured the cross-country skiing world. Lisa Unterweger, Olympic and World Cup starter from Austria, recently posted a picture of herself on her skis. The small but subtle difference was noticeable under her racing suit: her baby bump cannot be overlooked. The 28-year-old cross-country skier and her cross-country skiing friend Tobias Habenicht will soon become parents.

“We are ready for the new season and the most important race of our lives,” Unterweger expressed her joy about the baby in the post.

She and Tobias Habenicht have been a dream couple in the cross-country skiing circuit for years, with Unterweger being more successful in sport. She not only competed in 66 World Cup races, but also took part in World Championships and the Olympic Games. Her passion for cross-country skiing remains great, so it is quite possible that she will return to the sports stage after her pregnancy.
