World Championships in Montreal: Joos also impresses in the freestyle

At the Figure Skating World Championships in Montreal, the women's free skate took place on the European night on Saturday. Sarina Joos from Ice Skating Bozen was also there.

The 19-year-old Joos is not from South Tyrol, but she is chasing medals for Italy and competes for the Bolzano ice sports club. At her World Cup debut in Montreal (CAN), the Swiss native was able to reach the final straight away. After finishing 19th in the short program, Joos fell one place down in the free skate, but the end result is still more than impressive. 20th place with 167,04 points is a strong start to the World Cup for the South Tyrolean by choice.

Kaori Sakamoto secured World Cup gold. The Japanese was in 4th place after the short program, but came out strong in the free program and left all her competitors behind. Isabeau Levito (USA/Silver) and Chaeyeon Kim (KOR/Bronze) completed the podium. The Belgian Loena Hendrickx, who had led after the short program, fell back to fourth place.
